Roulette - The most popular and oldest casino game in the world is undoubtedly roulette. Everyone has heard of it! But do you know the rules? On this page you will be able to read about the basic rules that apply to roulette. The rules on this page can be used at both actual casinos and those on the Internet.
General
There are 2 different types of roulette wheel.
- One is called the French roulette wheel and table. The French roulette wheel only has one zero. There are also 36 slots with the numbers 1-36. Half the numbers are red and the other half are black. There is therefore a total of 37 slots on a French roulette wheel.
- The American roulette wheel and table has, in contrast to the French wheel, 2 green slots with a zero and a double zero. There are also 36 slots in the American wheel, numbered from 1-36, whereby one half is red and the other half is black. There is therefore a total of 38 slots on an American roulette wheel.
As a player, you always have a statistical advantage on a French roulette wheel as there is only one zero.
The roulette game itself
It is incredibly easy to play roulette. You simply place your stakes on the roulette table, after which the roulette table is spun. If for example, you bet $10 on the colour red and the ball lands on a number that is red, you win based on a 1:1 ratio, i.e. $10+$10=$20. If you bet on a number on the American roulette wheel, such as the number 15, and the ball lands on this number, your winnings ratio is 1:35. So if your bet was $10, you would get $10+$350=$360. You can see the winnings ratios in the table below, "Winnings payout table for the roulette wheel”.
