Omaha online poker rules are similar to Hold 'em online poker rules. Omaha online poker is however different from Hold’em in that you get 2 extra closed cards, so 4 closed cards in total. There are still 5 Community cards, but the final poker hand MUST comprise 2 closed cards and 3 Community cards, exactly as in Hold’em.
1. Object of the game:
The player with the best five card online poker hand wins. Another way is to get the other players to give up. (You have to get them to Fold, by for example bluffing)
Online poker rules for cards
The individual online poker player must create his final online poker hand from all 7 cards.
- 5 Community cards (shared cards)
- 4 closed cards
It is a requirement for your final poker hand to contain 2 closed cards and 3 Community cards. A standard deck of cards is used without jokers - 52 cards in total. Up to 10 players can take part per online poker table.
2. The game starts
There has to be a pot to play for, so there are forced bets.
- The small blind: ½ times the minimum bet is added to the pot by the first player next to the dealer in a clockwise direction.
- The big blind: 1 times the minimum bet is added to the pot by the second player next to the dealer in a clockwise direction.
An example: At a $10/$20 table, "The small blind" would be $5 and "The big blind" would be $10. These amounts may be used later to Call, Bet or Raise.
3. First deal
All players at the online poker table receive 4 closed cards and the game begins.
4. Betting round 1
Player number 3 clockwise after the dealer makes the first call. You cannot Check in betting round 1. But you can Raise, Call, Fold or Bet. It is custom to raise no more than 3 times in a betting round. The betting round stops when all players have paid the same amount into the pot.
All bets in the first betting round, in a game of Omaha Limit, equal the minimum bet.
Example: If you are playing at a $10/$20 online poker table, you put in $10 for Calls/Bets and a further $10 for Raises.
5. The Flop – first 3 Community cards revealed
The 3 Community cards can all form part of all players’ poker hands.
6. Second betting round
The players still in the game start a new betting round. The first player after the dealer clockwise starts. He has the following options: Check, Call, Bet, Raise or Fold. It is custom to only raise 3 times during this betting round. The betting round stops when all players have paid the same amount into the pot. In a game of Omaha Limit all bets in the second betting round equal the minimum bet.
Example: If you are playing at a $10/$20 online poker table, you put in $10 for Calls/Bets and a further $10 for Raises.
7. The Turn – fourth Community card is revealed
Another Community card is made visible to all active players around the online poker table. This card is, like the other 4 Community cards, common to all players and can form part of their online poker hand.
8. Betting round 3
The remaining players start a new betting round. The player sitting next to the dealer clockwise starts and can call any of the usual terms, i.e. Bet, Check, Call, Raise or Fold. You can normally only raise 3 times in this round. The round ends when all players, who choose to remain in the online poker game, have paid in the same amount.
In a game of Omaha Limit, all bets in betting round 3 equals the maximum bet.
Example: If you are playing at a $10/$20 online poker table, you put in $20 for a Call/Bet and a further $20 for raises.
9. The River – the fifth community card is revealed
Community card number 5 is turned and made visible to everyone. All 5 Community cards, which are shared cards, can form part of the individual active online poker player's poker hand.
10. Betting round 4 - Final betting round
The players still in the game start a final betting round. The player next to the dealer in a clockwise direction starts. Standard poker terms apply - all is possible. You can normally only raise 3 times. The round ends when all players have paid in the same amount.
In a game of Omaha Limit, all bets in betting round 4 equal the maximum bet.
Example: If you are playing at a $10/$20 online poker table, you put in $20 for a Call/Bet and a further $20 for raises.
11. Showdown – the winner
The players still in the game take turns to reveal their 4 closed cards. The player who by combining his 4 closed cards with 5 Community cards has the best 5 card online poker hand, wins. (The online poker hand must consist of 2 closed and 3 open cards). He wins the whole pot. THE WHOLE POT. If there is a draw between several players, the pot is shared. (A small percentage is withdrawn from the pot to be paid to the individual online poker room, a so-called rake.)
The dealer role moves one place clockwise and a new game begins.
